    "My journey with Nova Barbell started a little over a year ago and the results I’ve achieved have been so much more than I ever expected. I started as a Nutrition client with Leila because I have a severe food allergy that had left me with an iron and vitamin deficiency. My Dr wanted me to take a truckload of over the counter vitamins which frankly left me feeling worse than the deficiency itself. I sought out Leila’s help because I knew there had to be a better way to work these things back into my diet naturally. After several months of working with Leila I was able to impress my Dr with my follow up bloodwork results, but that wasn’t even the best part for me. The best part was the knowledge I had gained in order to make better choices for myself as well as some unexpected weight loss. I have struggled with my weight for most of my life and had been doing intermittent fasting for about 15 months before I met Leila. I had lost 40 lbs in the first 6 months of fasting but had been stuck there for almost a year after that so I wasn’t expecting to lose weight but I was able to drop another 10 lbs. I was able to text Leila for questions anytime about food substitutions or menu choices when eating out. The weekly follow up and constant encouragement exceeded my expectations. That’s when I decided that I would start working with Leila and Asim to improve my fitness level.

    I’ve been training with Leila and Asim for a year now which is about 10 months longer than I thought I would last. This is the part when I explain that up until this point any fitness/sports related endeavors I have ever attempted have a life expectancy of about 3 months before I would find an excuse to give up. Leila and Asim will tell you that I have tried those excuses the first few months but they weren’t having any of it, they never allowed me to quit or sideline myself with self doubt. Anytime I’ve come to the gym with complaints of something hurting to much to workout Asim has taken the time to evaluate the source of the problem and find ways to help me correct the problem through stretching, strength building exercises, or just a confidence boost. I currently utilize both one on one training with Leila as well as online services with Asim and I have been impressed with the level of attention given during workouts for both. They monitor my workouts to ensure I am practicing proper form, answer questions I may have, and to push me to levels I didn’t think I could achieve. I recently suffered a severe injury to my arm that was unrelated to my weight training and the old me would have used this as an excuse to quit but with Leila and Asim’s encouragement you will still see me in the gym doing my modified workout plan.

    To date I have lost almost 18 inches from my waist, 5 inches from my chest , 6 inches from my hips, & 2 inches from each thigh. The loss of inches has been exciting but the part I love the most are the gains.... the gains in strength, flexibility and most of all confidence to not only push myself but also to try new things. I never thought that at age 45 I would be stepping on the mats to learn Jiu Jitsu and I am also considering competing in weightlifting at some point. I just can’t say enough good things about Nova Barbell club. The workouts and advice are top notch and they make the gym fun. There is a social aspect to working out with the Nova Barbell community that makes me look forward to my workouts.     “I have had the privilege of being Asim Fayyaz’s training client for more than five years and I appreciate working with him and Leila Adams more than I can ever say. They are exactly the kind of people I want directing me toward my goals. Asim’s philosophy is one that I really admire: it’s about making sure he understands exactly where I am now and where I want to go, and about building a step-by-step road map to get me there as efficiently as possible without injury or delay. He will let me go as fast as he thinks is wise, but no faster. I think many trainers like to make their clients as sore as possible as proof of how good they are at their jobs or how hard they are making clients work. I know I can tell them anything that is hurting my ability to work out -- from heavy professional workloads to unexpected travel requirements -- and I know they’ll find a way to help me get the work done. And I’ve really appreciated the “at home/hotel” workouts they’ve texted me as they allow me to keep on track even when I’m not here. I also really appreciate the supportive environment they’ve created at NOVA Barbell Club.

    We have the entire gamut of goals among those of us who work out there, and we all have learned from each other and cheered each other on as we’ve achieved them.
